Was not the first century GB a group of spirit annointed older men who wrote letters to instruct and direct as well as correct and counsel with a view to the building up of the clean congregation in order to further the spread (preaching of) the good news ? 1 cor 5:9

I seem to have "stumbled on another whose posting has the sole intent of trashing the" org " (borg minus the b to those whose delight is in retaliation for their rebellious, independent spirit).

WTS does everything possible to avoid Caesars "Taxes" like any other organization

Interesting how freely you can use copywrited material in violation of ceasar's laws while bashing those who willingly submit to his laws regarding taxation, etc. The only thing we avoid is being "part of the world" If we don't pay taxes it's because ceasar's laws allow us not to. Besides what great witness is it to have your tax money spent on killing and plundering around the world anyway?

How do JW's follow Jesus admonition to "love their enemies"?

We do show love for our enemies by witholding close association from those whose conduct denies a desire to live according to bible standards. Even Paul would not allow someone to be called a brother who was a fornicator, idolator........... Please explain....how is it loving to give tacit approval to harmful or self destructive behaviour ?

So then why are JW's told to willingly submit to the Governing body??? hmmmmmm

Older men are not always mentally deficient. In fact, most of the time they have some pretty good insight into what you'll get into if left without direction, counsel and reminders. Titus 1:5

Spiritual education of my son....

7 years my son was spiritualy educated as a future jw... my wife still is a faithful witness, so i cannot tell him straight "wtbs is a bunch of liars and hypocrites ...." he would be confused and would go to mom to ask if its right.... so i started explaining him indirectly, leting him to got to the conclusion himself.

we have several topics.

I can't imagine how bad I would feel if I was responsible for teaching something that was not the truth and having someone's life ruined because of it. Sad Michael, you said it. Not me. I really wish you'd listen to your own words, buddy.

I understand how it sounds. That's the whole point. I don't make anyone accountable to me. I find it much more uplifting and liberating to give everyone the benfit of learnung from their own mistakes, as I do mine. I do find it helpful from time to time that others truly did learn from a mistake and shared it with me. I then can learn from theirs too. I can't imagine what the writing committee is thinking about sometimes either, but usually I see it clearly in retrospect, after an interchange of encouragement with my bros & sisters. You can' get that kind of depth of understanding on your own. What would have happened if Jehovah had allowed King David to be put to death as he should have been ?

What happens if Jehovah closes the doors on every Kingdom Hall that is not as loving or forgiving as they are loyal and faithful to the org ?

Who would stand if errors were what he saw..................? You ? Certainly not me.

I know I have been warned that I should not be here, but as I've mentioned before on othe rposts, I feel the true pain and sadness that is here. Much of which, I do not think, is too heavy to be lifted off by a friend who cares. I do. THAT'S WHY I'M HERE.......... To help if possible

As for how I can use the world's language and be on a website I have been warned about , well I guess somebody would have said something similar to Jesus when he touched lepers to heal them. Besides, somebody taking a chunk out of your buttock seems a little incongruent , now doesn't it ? I'm not afraid to speak my mind or think what I want. I also know how to "season my words with salt". Check in the mirror and see if you may have a little somthing in your eye........I'm just sayin'

If it is not from God, it will surely die out, but if it is you may find yourself actually working against almighty God (Jehovah){ and one of his children.}
I just noticed this from Sad Michael....this reminds me of when they would say from the platform "so what if its not the truth? What harm is it for you to stay in? You will have lived a healthy, honest life surrounded by the most happy, loving people around." ......I need to just log off this site right now, no need to get pissy at 8:30a in the morning. Grrrrrrrr. Michael, do you realize just HOW MANY THINGS that are not from god that do NOT die out? And then young children grow up and realize too late what a waste their lives were? They realize how many really true, wonderful, kind souls they missed out on (i.e....extended family who are not jw's but who have so much love in their hearts)?????! I understand that, after you see the 2nd or 3rd question mark or exclamation mark, you will see that I am angry and your mind probably quit reading what I had to write (because you think "apostate"!). But look past the anger, Michael. And read all the other threads on here....it's so much more than anger. Its pure hurt. And sadness. Most of the people on here are some of the most pure, caring people and god loves them just the same. Nuff said.

I'm right there with you on the real pain and hurt. I think a good example of how we can get past it is to replace it with compassion, or your pain in my heart. (Jesus on the torture stake asking Jehovah to forgive the ones who put him there)

Have compassion for those who do this unknowingly, or even knowingly to cover over something even worse. I'm hoping you still believe Jehovah can fix anything we can screw up, and he'll have the time to do it. My situation is similar to yours, but the roles are reversed. My wife is no longer going with us to meetings, so she can't receive the food at the proper time........... neither can you. How can you let endurance have it's work complete if you quit enduring ? Jehovah strengthens us as we ask for strength, not as we turn inward and let our pain and sadness become a cancer that destroys our relationship with him.

Don't worry .........be happy........

I'll continue to follow this thread, as it may be the one that leads me to a better understanding of how to help restore the "crushed reed" Thank you all for pouring it out here. Keep it up. It's a tough territory, but it will produce fruit if I don't tire out.

As a therapist and ex-jw, I fully understand that the deep psychological damage done by being a jw takes decades, possibly forever, to undo.

You can't possibly understand that because you've never tried to undo the damage. Therefore, I'm curious what you believe your qualifications are to judge the difference between the two.

I'm no more qualifies than the Apostle Paul was, except for the fact that possibly the light has gotten brighter as the day approaches and the fact that the scripture he help write under inspiration are now complete until the new scrolls are opened. Might I ask how can you, as a therapist, hold your {although highly educated and supported by many colleages} opinion above that of God's words? Does not his word caution us against such reasoning and other firmly entrenched things? One of the main reasons I am "sad michael" is because of the loss of perspective by so many of Jehovah's sheep, botht those on the platform and off.

Why are you an "Ex" ?

There is much benefit in keeping your head in the sand ("what I don't know won't hurt me"), but as you do, the enemy that surrounds you will take a chunk of your ass, you just won't know it till your ass is gone. Look around and see that the real problems start in our own hearts and minds. Don't let them grow. By measuring out and examining ourselves first, we will realized the pitiable state we are in and have a deeper appreciation for those around us despite their shortcomings.

Be forgiving and be forgiven, Love and be loved,

Resent and be resented, Hate and be hated.

My JW Daughter sends a Letter to us Explaining her Shunning of Me

my wife and i sent my 22 yr.old pioneer witness daughter and her husband a anniversary card and $ 40.00 and flowers the end of april.

my daughter wrote mrs. flipper and me each our own individual letters thanking us initially for the gifts - and then went into detail as to why she has not spoken to me for over a year and shunned me.. keep in mind as i paraphrase some of the highlights to these letters that the only negative thing i have said about the organization to my daughter in 3 years was to show her the ap news release about the child abuse settlements by the wt society .

i'll quote parts of the letter to mrs. flipper first :.

You should swallow your pride, forgive those who have sinned against you, give up the painful feelings you cling to that caused you to leave Jehovah, and beg for his forgiveness and that you may return to his flock. I pray your daughter and any others who are faced with the choice of being loyal to Jehovah or anything or anyone will (continue to) choose Jehovah. It's not anything other than an expression of our love for you, and I hope you will undrstand it someday soon while there is still time.

I have three sons who are faithful, one has been disfellowshipped for 2 years and is soon to be reinstated. I agreed with it then and I agree with it now. My wife agreed wth it then and does not agree with it now. What has changed? Jehovah didn't neither did I or my sons. even the one who was disfellowshipped understands why and agrees with it. She has jumped overboard and let go of the life preserver, the only thing is the one she thought she was going to rescue is already back on board. I hope you can find some way to be rescued too

Maybe he will choose what you fear the most, then what ?

My wife has decided the same thing as you have and I wonder why either of you would even consider causing the kind of damage possible by placing such a heavy load on a child. If it is not from God, it will surely die out, but if it is you may find yourself actually working against almighty God (Jehovah){ and one of his children.}

The beauty of childish innocence is that it's kinda like love (1 COR 13). Your son ( and mine) have been taught to believe and apply the word of God. We have a much harder time because we see so many who appear not to, but in choosing to see their sin instead of overlooking it, we cannot see our own, which in most cases is misapplication of scripture or selective application of scripture. Before we get started on a witch hunt for the offenses of the WTBS or GB get the rafters out of our own eyes. ( Let he who is w/o sin cast the first stone) Than we will understand the meaning of Jesus' words "Verily I say unto you, unless you become like one of these you may by no means enter into my kingdom"

I'm sure we've all taken shortcuts and wished we hadn't. I drove a semi truck (cab and 53'trailer) for a long time, much longer than I care to think about. I took a short cut once and had to back up over 5 miles. If you think that was easy, I'd like to sell you some land on the West Bank, don't worry it has a clear title.

The point is that some times shortcuts really damage us and we end up in the same palce,but many times by a much more indirect route than what the shortcut appeared to be initially. For example -- paradise earth we'll have it eventually. Adam and Eve tried to take a shortcut. If in fact satan hadn't been a liar, they would have been like God and could have said " Let there be an earthly paradise......" Get the idea? Sure you do.

Why not accept the fact that Jehovah knows best how we can relate to him and each other.

Not a short cut, but the best way !
